MMX British Championship Round 4 09/06/2007 Desertmartin, Northern Ireland Practice Jason had a good qualifying session, posting the 3rd fastest time, giving him 3rd choice of the gate pick. The bike went well and Jason was really looking forward to racing as he believed it was the sort of track he could win at due to it being very sandy and demanding which suits Jason’s style of riding. Race 1 Jason did not have the best of starts, rounding the first turn in 10th position. H fought hard to pass 2 riders by the middle of the 2nd lap. As the 2nd lap was coming to an end, Jason opted for the inside lane of a spilt lane corner attempting to pass the 7th place rider. As he exited the bend, the front wheels got caught in a rut, which resulted in the bars twisting rapidly to the left and forcing his right shoulder to become dislocated. Unfortunately, it had dislocated so severely that the medical staff were unable to treat it at the track. Jason was taken to hospital in an ambulance, where he required general anaesthetic in order for the shoulder to be put back into place. He was therefore put out for the day and unable to score points in both of the races. This resulted in Jason getting dropped to 4th place in the championship, but with 3 weeks until the next championship round Jason can rest it and have it examined by a specialist who will tell him whether or not he can take part in the next round at Torrington on the 1st of July. |

Macbeth Takes Championship Lead at Frome
MMX British Championship Round 3 28/05/2007 Asham Woods, Frome Practice Jason qualified 5th fastest in practice, giving him the 5th choice of gate position on the start line. After practice the team decided to make a couple of changes to the bike. They changed the front tyres, adjusted the ride height and softened the suspension due to the track being fast and relatively flat. Race 1 Jason had a reasonable start to race 1, where he managed to get round the first bend in about 6th position. By the end of the second lap he managed to get pass Ricky Toye and Simon Hammersley to take 4th place. In the early stages of the race whilst being in 6th position, the leading 3 riders were able to put some distance between themselves and Jason and therefore all being similar speeds it was difficult for him catch them and make any passes. Jason finished the race in 4th position giving 18 points. Race 2 Race 2 saw Jason improve on his start, rounding the first turn in 3rd place behind Paul Winrow and John Mitchell. After a third of the 30 minute race had passed, Romain Couprie, winner of race 1 made a pass on Jason putting him back to 4th. Towards the end of the race Jason was challenging Winrow for 3rd but could not quite make the pass. After 2, 4th places Jason finished 4th overall putting away 36 points towards the Championship which gave him a total of 118 points and the overall lead in the Championship. Championship Standings 1st. Jason Macbeth 118 points 2nd. Joe Maessen 113 points 3rd. John Mitchell 105 points 4th. Paul Winrow 93 points 5th. Willy Waggot 83 points

Macbeth Injury Update 22/06/2007 Jason saw a specialist yesterday (Thursday 21st June, 2007), who concluded that the injury is still very severe and that Jason should rest his shoulder for a further 5 weeks. Jason has been given a special support to keep his arm and shoulder in the correct place to aid the healing process. This does however mean that Jason will have to miss the next round of the MMX CCM British Championship which is to be held at Torrington, Devon on the 1st of July. Jason’s championship has been severely jeopardised so he will be looking for his shoulder to make a full recovery before returning to the track. |

Macbeth Returns to Racing at Great 8 Enduro: Jason Macbeth made is return to racing after nearly 2 months out. Teaming up with fellow Honda Rider, Steve Atkins the team battled out for the 2 man title at the QRA Great 8 Endurance Event. The race went very well for Jason and Steve. They maintained a good pace in second just 16 seconds behind the leaders. However during Jason’s stint of the race, he encountered a puncture, which resulted them in dropping further back, but still maintaining the 2nd place spot. Overall, Jason was very pleased with the result and how his shoulder held up. After this successful event, Jason will be back training again and ready to compete in some winter events, particularly the Weston beach race where he is looking to get the top spot. Full results of the Great 8 are available at www.qrauk.com Pics to be added shortly…... |
